Leopard Address Book and SMS

Mac OS X Add comments

Is it me, or does Address Book in Leopard not include the ability to send SMS messages through a Bluetooth-enabled cell phone? I ask because my phone needed a third-party iSync plugin under Tiger, and I’m not sure if this missing functionality is because the plugin needs updated, or because Apple dropped that feature.

Anyone care to enlighten me?

I found the answer to my question here:

Well, it seems that Apple has removed SMS anc Call options from the Address book, so i bought those plugins for nothing.

Yes, we’ve had multiple notices on the Product page and the Support page about this since we found out a few weeks ago.

The annoying thing is that in the early Leopard betas, the SMS & Call functions were there (although buggy).

We were hoping that the feature would re-appear in the final Retail version of Mac OS X 10.5, but we have just received our copy and it still isn’t there.

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about this. I would strongly recommend you send feedback to Apple about this situation.
