Guess who I saw at dinner tonight

Tonight at dinner at the Big Boy in Bellbrook, I saw a familiar face to Ohioans: former Ohio Governor Bob Taft. I tried to discreetly snap a picture of him from underneath the table. Let the guy have his dinner in peace, I figure. Because he was sitting against the window, this was the best I could get.

I couldn’t figure out why he’d be in our town until I read the Wikipedia article about him. He’s has joined the University of Dayton as a research associate.

He is the great grandson of William Howard Taft, former President and Chief Justice of the United States (and our fattest President). You may also remember that his grandfather, Robert Taft, ran for the Republican nomination against Ike in 1952.

Someone needs to go back to school

Apple 1 Comment »

I’ve read some of the point-counterpoint postings about the gentleman from Cox who asked about the Intel stickers during Apple’s iMac unveiling event Tuesday, and I want to add my little bit. I’m befuddled as to why Apple bothered to have a Q&A session after the event to begin with. The company is famous for responses that are scripted, terse, obvious, and otherwise answer-free. Why did they open the floor to possible questions they knew they had no intention of answering? What person in that room who was familiar with Apple would even bother to ask a question, since they can practically predict Apple’s answers? I don’t understand the point of the whole exchange.
