Draconian sex offender laws are becoming somewhat of a theme to my blog here recently. I found this article at Fox News, which led me to a site with a very frightening story.
If this doesn’t send a chill down your spine, you’re inhuman.

“No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.”
Government officials should occasionally read the document they swear an oath to uphold. In fact, I think we should be allowed, as citizens to present them with pop quizzes on a whim. They should lose their job if they fail.. say three times in a row. heh.

I love a man who quotes the Constitution.
It’s a pretty simple document to understand. I’ve read it myself a time or two. I think part of the problem is that most people haven’t read it, or those who have don’t understand it. I can’t imagine that someone who understands their rights under our ultimate instrument of government wouldn’t be livid over a story like this. Considering that most Americans probably have almost no knowledge of the Constitution, that would make your quiz of public officials pretty difficult.
You can’t ask the question if you don’t really know the answer.
