After watching quite a number of news stories and TV specials today commemorating the dropping of the first atomic bomb on Japan, most of which portray America’s decision to use the bomb negatively, I have to wonder: On December 7, does the Japanese media engage in the same angst over the victims of Pearl Harbor?

I agree that Japan should show remorse over starting the war and the atrocities that were commited in the name of the Japaninese people. The attack on Pearl Harbor was warrior on warrior, the dropping of the bomb on Hiroshima was and is a terror weapon warrior on civilian. That one bomb could cause as much devastation as it did also was the reason that we are second guessing the use of the bomb. In history there are always stories of the agressor becoming the victim.
I will also grant the argument that the bomb shortend the war by convincing the Japanese to give up.

Thanks for responding!
My point was, does Japan still openly question their deeds of almost 65 years ago with the same sense of intensity, repetition, and self-loathing as the American media does, or have they learned a lesson and moved on with their collective lives? I hope it’s the latter, and I hope it becomes the latter for us in my lifetime.
