Is it ironic that a company that provides little or no roadmap for their own products uses the roadmaps of its suppliers to decide upon and justify huge changes?

I think that’s going to change, or maybe not. It seems like Apple loves to surprise consumers with new products. Our IT guys hate to be surprised, that could be why we don’t buy many Apple products.

I think it may change in the sense that it’ll be easier to infer what Apple will release based upon the roadmap that Intel publishes, but we can never be too sure with Apple, can we?
I can certainly understand why your IT guys dislike surprises. Maybe now that Apple has more certainty in its suppliers, it can take the step of providing “unsurprising” information to the IT world and boost those server sales.
