Update, September 5, 2005: A great Tiger-compatible application that makes all of this TFTP stuff easier has been released. I strongly recommend it if you have any need for TFTP. The rest of this article may still contain interesting information for the more technical among us.
As the networking infrastructure guy, I occasionally have the need to update hardware or backup settings using the TFTP protocol. I’ve noticed that there are plenty of good instructions for how to make this work with Panther, but almost none for Tiger. Tweaking TFTP in Panther required editing a file in /etc/xinetd.d/ that no longer exists in Tiger since xinetd has been deprecated in favor of launchd. No worries, however, because you can make TFTP work in Tiger, it’s just that the steps to get there are a bit different. It requires use of the Terminal, but you’re good enough, you’re smart enough, and… we’ll leave it at that.

The city of Dayton is also considering a similar ordinance.

The majority (2/3 of voters) oppose gay marriage, therefore it is entirely appropriate within the context of democratic principles that an amendment should be added to the state constitution prohibiting it.
In Spain:

“Back then the majority of people also backed Hitler just like the majority back this law,” he said. “I’m serious, give it time and it will destroy the moral fiber of Spain and the West.”

I’m probably a month behind the rest of the world in finding this out.
The company I work for hosts its e-mail on an Exchange server. The Public Folders store on the server contains tens of thousands of items that are indexed by Spotlight and that I’d rather not include as part of my Spotlight search results. So how can I stop that mailbox from being indexed? Read the rest of this entry »
