How to disable Tiger’s Dashboard

Today I noticed that quite a number of people are coming to the site because of an earlier discussion where I mentioned how to disable the Dashboard in Tiger. Rather than have those referred search through the discussion, I’ll print the very simple instructions here:

Dashboard isn’t running until you call it up the first time. To “disable” it, don’t set a hot key or a screen corner for it in System Preferences. Without a way to start it, Dashboard is never called up the first time, and therefore is not running. Easy.
