My friend Todd sent me an e-mail today pointing out this page, which has product information for Microsoft’s Optical Mouse by Starck, coming in late August. Take a look at the product shot provided:

That’s a scan from the front of my Apple Wireless Mouse box. (I had to scan the box because I couldn’t find a side shot anywhere.) The profile for the wired mouse is very similar.

I’m not accusing Microsoft of directly reproducing Apple’s mouse because there are some obvious differences, but come on! Are there any ideas Microsoft won’t lift from another company? And where Apple has had Jonathan Ive for years, Microsoft now has this Philippe Starck guy. Give me a break.
