Now CNN has caught on to the stupid “iPod security risk” headline.

This article on CNN today has repeated the very stupid headline about the iPod being a security risk, and again, the article doesn’t cite a single characteristic of the iPod that makes it any more of a security risk than any other form of portable media that has existed since the dawn of computing. The iPod is singled out in the headline for the purpose of sensationalism, and the article’s contents aren’t anything close to news: Portable devices enable people to steal data. We already know that.

Placing the name of any one device in the headline of a story to sensationalize a non-news item is stupid and irresponsible and does nothing except create FUD against that named device.
